Repairs

Quote

If your ebike has an unexpected issue that falls outside the scope of a general service such as a mechanical fault or electrical issue, we'll provide you with a quote for repair. Our minimum charge for electrical diagnosis or repair is $100, regardless of whether we are able to fix the issue.

VIP Repairs & Tube Changes

Due to limited storage space & our busy schedule, we can only accommodate walk-ins for tube changes and VIP Repairs. FAQ

We recommend booking a few weeks ahead of time. Our workshop is usually heavily booked, and you may have to wait as long as 3-4 weeks for your booking date.

Very important, particularly if you rely on your ebike as your main mode of transportation!  Regular servicing helps maintain your bike in good working order. You wouldn't wait until your car breaks down before taking it to a mechanic - in the same way, don't wait until problems arise with your ebike before booking in.

Consider how easy/difficult it is for you to transport your bike to the workshop if it's unrideable. If the answer is 'very difficult', this is even more reason to ensure your bike is well maintained and serviced regularly.

We have very limited capacity to do on the spot repairs. Our workshop is routinely booked weeks in advance, and while we can take walk-ins for bikes purchased from us, this does not guarantee a quick fix. Keeping on top of servicing and maintenance is the best way to avoid getting stranded or being without a bike.

If you purchased your electric bike from us and you are having an unexpected issue with your ebike, we'll try to accommodate you as best we can. Contact us to organise a walk-in.

In order to accommodate customers who have purchased their electric bike from us, we currently do not have the capacity to receive bikes purchased elsewhere as walk-ins. Contact us for the next available booking.

Our workshop is routinely booked weeks in advance, and walk-ins are assessed at the first available opportunity after completion of booked services.

If you're concerned that something strange is happening with your bike, the first step is, don't panic! It may be something as simple as the mudguard rubbing on the tyre, or the gears not fully engaging.

Stop riding and do a visual check for anything that might be rattling or rubbing, paying particular attention to any bags or other cargo that may have loose straps or buckles. Make sure nothing is caught in your spokes and that everything is tight and secure.

If you're still worried, give us a call. We may ask you to email us a video, or swing by the workshop with the bike. Please remember, there's limited assistance we can provide without actually having the bike in the workshop.

If extensive repairs are required, we'll do our best to assist you, but you may have to wait for the next booking date, or leave the bike with us as a walk-in* to be assessed at the first available opportunity after the completion of pre-booked services.

*Glow Worm VIPs only

No, we don't work on all electric bikes.
We do work on all bikes that we've sold.
We don't work on overpowered ebikes, ebikes that don't meet our quality standards, bikes with electric conversions that weren't completed by us or brands that we can't get parts or provide support for. We can refer you to other suitable bike shops if we can't work on your bike.
If your bike was purchased elsewhere, contact us to check if your ebike is one that we can work on.

No, we no longer do electric bike conversions.

In order to accommodate customers who have purchased their electric bike from us, we are not currently taking on new non-electric bike bookings.

If you are an existing workshop customer & you've previously had your non-electric bike serviced with us, we'll gladly continue to work on it.

We're unable to say exactly how long a service will take. When you book in, you'll be provided a booking day, rather than a specific time slot. We aim to have services completed in 1-2 days and cannot guarantee same day completion. If we need to order in parts or complete more complex repairs, this timeframe may be longer. We'll message you once your bike is complete.

We are unable to complete your service while you wait. We aim to have services completed in 1-2 days and cannot guarantee same day completion. If we need to order in parts or complete more complex repairs, this timeframe may be longer.

If you purchased your ebike from us, you are welcome to use a loan bike for the duration of your service, subject to availability. If you need a loan bike, please notify us at the time of booking.

We don't have the capability to pick up or drop off bikes, but we can put you in touch with a courier who can.

Maxi Taxis, Uber XL or GoGet vans may accommodate some bikes.

Stanmore Train Station is a short ride from our workshop & has elevator access. The Sydney Metro at Sydenham station is a short ride from our workshop.

If you are stranded, a mobile mechanic may be your best option.

We have loan bikes available for Glow Worm VIPs, subject to availability. If you need a loan bike, please notify us at the time of booking.

If you purchased your ebike from us, you're a Glow Worm VIP! You'll automatically receive the discounted rate for your service & other benefits.

General Service Electric Bike: $270 + parts (VIP Pricing: $200 + parts)

General Service Electric Cargo Bike: $330 + parts (VIP Pricing: $250 + parts)

Once a mechanic has assessed your bike & determined what parts are needed, they'll provide you with a quote before proceeding. We are unable to provide a fixed quote prior to assessing the bike in the workshop.

The Free Service Period applies to ebikes purchased from Glow Worm, and encompasses the first three months of ownership, starting from the date you collect your new ebike.

As well as being able to book in for your First Free Service within this time, you will also receive 10% off any accessories you purchase, up until the final date of the Free Service Period.

The Free Service Period does not apply to ebikes purchased elsewhere, including Click & Collect orders purchased from another website.

If you're unable to get a booking within the Free Service Period due to our schedule being full, this is totally fine, providing the booking itself is made before the end of the Free Service Period. Please go ahead and book in via the online booking portal.

Any other extensions to the Free Service period must be arranged in advance. Please get in touch with us if you're not able to make a booking within the Free Service Period - perhaps you will be travelling, have been injured or unwell, or have experienced other extenutating circumstances. We are usually happy to extend the Free Service Period, within reason.

If you've missed the Free Service Period, a minimum labour charge of $75 will apply to your first service.  Depending on how long it's been, and how many kilometres you've ridden, the full general service fee will apply. The mechanics will give you a quote once they start work on the bike. If you have any questions, please get in touch with us before you book in.

Unfortunately not, unless you have a service booking.  If you drop in for a tube change we will make every effort to complete it on the spot and get you back up and rolling, but it's very unlikely we will have time do anything more, as we need to reserve time to complete booked services. If your brakes and gears need attention please get in touch to book in for a service.

When booking in via the online booking portal, please tick the box to go on the waitlist. If we get a cancellation and can move you to an earlier appointment, we will send you a message.

You're very welcome to make a booking and cancel it if you find a workshop that can take you sooner. We do not charge cancellation fees, we just ask you to let us know so that we can offer the spot to someone on the waitlist.

If you are a Glow Worm VIP, please enquire about the use of a loan bike.

If you have been referred to us by the Lekker Alexandria store, please enquire about the Lekker loan bike.
